About the Artist
Ayesha Akhtar was inducted as a singer into The Grund Club Luxembourg in March 2016. She was spotted by Sven Sauber and was on our radar for some time. She is still making her first steps in the club and she is beginning to be featured in The Grund Club VOICES show, so that she can gain more stage confidence and get used to rehearsing with professional musicians. We expect her to quickly develop her sense of harmony, interpretation and hosting and we look forward to having her back at The Grund Club SONGWRITERS show.
Ayesha started to sing at the young age of 6, borrowing her parents’ CDs, which led her to listen to Mariah Carey, Barbara Streisand, Céline Dion, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Stevie Wonder and Barry White. She would hide in the bedroom and not get out until she thought she had managed to hold her voice as long as they did. Later on, her main influences became Alicia Keys, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Beyoncé and Florence and the machine, amongst others.
Over the years, she participated in various projects as a background singer, which allowed her to get some experience in performing and recording in the studio. Ayesha is one of our newest members but she has quickly understood that her learning curve and performances at The Grund Club are a wonderful opportunity and she is grabbing it!
